How it works
How BlameLoL picks who to blame
Every player in a League of Legends match gets a blame score from 0 to 10, built from 13 stats, compared against the rest of the lobby and weighted for their role. The lowest score on the team takes the blame. Here’s exactly how.
The blame score in six steps
1
Pull the match
We fetch the game and its timeline from the official Riot Games API.
2
Measure 13 stats
Every stat is scaled by game length or team totals, so a 20 minute stomp and a 45 minute slog compare fairly.
3
Compare against the lobby
Each stat is compared with the other players in the same game, as a z-score. Extreme values are capped, so one freak number can’t decide the verdict.
4
Weight by role
Stats are averaged with weights for your role. Supports aren’t judged on CS, junglers are judged more on objectives.
5
Score from 0 to 10
5.0 is exactly the lobby average. Every 2.5 points is one standard deviation, so 7.5 is clearly ahead and 2.5 clearly behind.
6
Name the culprit
The lowest score on each team gets the blame and the highest is the carry. Then we dig through the stats for evidence.
The 13 stats we measure
- KDA
- Kills plus assists per death, capped at 8 so one stomp can’t break the scale.
- Kill participation
- The share of your team’s kills you were part of.
- Deaths per minute
- Lower is better. Dying a lot in a short game hurts more.
- Damage share
- Your share of the team’s damage to champions.
- Gold per minute
- All gold earned, divided by game length.
- CS per minute
- Minions and jungle monsters killed per minute.
- Vision per minute
- Vision score per minute: wards placed, cleared and controlled.
- Objective damage
- Your share of the team’s damage to towers, dragons and Baron.
- Damage soaked
- Your share of the damage the team took and mitigated.
- Heals and shields
- Your share of the team’s healing and shielding on allies.
- Crowd control
- Your share of the time your team spent stunning, rooting and slowing.
- Time dead
- Lower is better. The share of the game spent on the grey screen.
- Lane gold lead
- Your gold minus your lane opponent’s at 14 minutes. Summoner’s Rift only.
What counts for each role
KDA and deaths matter for everyone. On top of that, each role is judged on what it’s actually there to do.

AFK detection
Riot flags some AFK players itself. BlameLoL also catches the ones who wander around just enough to dodge that flag: after 5 minutes, zero kills and assists, under 3% of the team’s damage, under 1 CS per minute and under 0.2 vision per minute. All of it has to be true, so a player who is present but having a bad game never trips it. AFK players score 0 and are left out of the lobby averages.
The evidence
The score decides who. The evidence explains why: the most damning stats from the blamed player’s game, like “Died 8 times, that’s once every 1.8 minutes.” The worst one picks their title, from a few variants per offense. Hover or tap a title to see what earns it.

FAQ
Is the blame score accurate?
It’s math, not mind reading. The score sees what Riot records: kills, deaths, damage, gold, vision and objectives. It can’t see a great call in voice chat, a smart rotation, or the teammate who tilted everyone in all chat. Treat the verdict as a stat-backed roast, not a court ruling.
Do I need to log in or connect my Riot account?
No. Enter any Riot ID (Name#TAG) and pick a region. Match history is public through the official Riot Games API, the same data sites like op.gg use. BlameLoL never asks for a password.
Which regions are supported?
All of them: EUW, EUNE, NA, KR, BR, LAN, LAS, TR, RU, ME, JP, OCE, SEA, TW, VN.
Which game modes work?
Any 5v5 game on Summoner’s Rift or Howling Abyss: Ranked Solo/Duo, Ranked Flex, Normal Draft, Swiftplay, Clash, ARAM and URF. Arena has no team of five to blame, so it’s skipped.
How many games can I check?
Your 10 most recent matches show up after a search. Pick any of them to get the verdict.
Can it blame me?
Yes. If you had the lowest score on your team, the verdict says so. Plot twist included.
Why wasn’t the support blamed for doing no damage?
Because the score is role-weighted. Supports are judged mostly on vision, kill participation, heals, shields and crowd control. Damage barely counts for them, and CS doesn’t count at all.
What happens with AFK players and remakes?
AFK players score 0 automatically and are left out of the lobby averages, so their empty stat line doesn’t make everyone else look better. In a remake, the player who didn’t load in gets the blame. If nobody went AFK, nobody is blamed.
Can I share a verdict?
Yes. Every verdict has its own link with a preview card for Discord, X, WhatsApp and more. Fair warning: your teammates can read it too.
Is BlameLoL made by Riot Games?
No. BlameLoL is a fan project built on the Riot Games API. It isn’t endorsed by Riot Games.
